MANKATO, Minn. – St. Cloud State Softball (34-13, 13-6 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) was swept by Minnesota State (34-14, 13-6 NSIC) on Sunday at The Diamon in Mankato. The Huskies dropped game one, 6-0, before falling 7-5 in game two.
GAME ONE: MINNESOTA STATE 6, ST. CLOUD STATE 0
MSU struck first in the home half of the second inning with a solo home run, added four runs in the third and one more in the fourth to bring the game to its final score. The Huskies were unable to score, stranding six runners on the basepaths after tallying seven hits and drawing two walks.
GAME TWO: MINNESOTA STATE 7, ST. CLOUD STATE 5
SCSU scored its first runs of the day and took its first lead of the day in the first inning, going up 2-0 in the top of the first inning. The Mavericks took its first lead of the game after plating three runs in the bottom of the second and extended its lead with a run in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth.The Huskies, down 7-2, began rally in the top of the seventh, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to two and had runners on second and third but MSU ended the game after turning a double play.
